    Got The (Big) Picture?

Current Mood: A little less idiotic.

Today's Lesson: Make sure you see the whole picture before reacting on only a part of it.

When looking at things, you need to have the whole picture to really get it. Having even the slightest part covered up or ignored will leave you with a distorted view, something not as reliable. For instance, take a piece of paper and draw the letter A on it. Now take your hand and cover up half of it. What once was a legible letter has now been reduced to merely a line. Such is life.

How often do we judge a situation based on a part or piece of the whole puzzle? How accurate can that judgment be? If we are failing to see the whole picture, we are setting ourselves up for what could prove to be a big mistake. Acting on just a piece of information usually proves to be the wrong thing to do. So often, I find myself running with what little info I get and it never fails...I end up looking like an idiot. To make the right decision, you must have all the facts, not just what you can get at the moment. It takes quite a bit of patience as the whole picture isn't usually thrown in your lap at once, but it takes time. You have to gather all the information, bit by bit before you go acting on it. This is a lesson I'm learning slowly, but the important thing is that I'm learning it. No more snap decisions based on an ounce of information for me because quite frankly, I'm tired of looking like an idiot.
